Remodeled Downstairs Summer 2005

The landscaping changes as the summer goes on.
This is the end of June
I love the coolness and calmness of the living
room
It is in stark contrast the the room across the hall - which is the dining
room...
As cool as the living room was - the dining room is equally
warm. I love this pumpkin color and it or a variation of it
is used in nearly every room of the house. I think it makes
the wood in the room look great.
This hallway was painted in stripes. I used exactly the same color for
both
stripes - one stripe was done in a flat finish and the other in a semi-gloss.
It is sort of a tone-on-tone effect.
I had a very dated 80's kitchen but the cabinets were well made and the overall
area worked well so I decided to do an update by painting the cabinets and
putting crown molding and decorative molding on some of the cabinets.
I love chickens so I bought a book of portraits of different breeds of chickens
and framed them and mounted them on the backsplash. I love looking at
their surprised faces as I get my coffee in the morning!!!
The bakers rack was a new addition.
We changed the lights from simple fluorescent lights to halogen track
lighting. It improved the lighting immensely.
